I would not recommend this location for any catered event. I certainly would not recommend if you have any special dietary requirements. Having visited the place for a Christmas party I was left thoroughly disappointed by the lack of accommodation when it came to the main course. In order to make my meal gluten free they simply ommited the sausage and stuffing. Now surely if you are there for a Christmas themed meal you expect, at the very least, pigs in blankets. Sadly not even those 'normal' eaters got that, just a sad looking chipolata. An event with less than 75 people, how difficult would it have been to cater for a handful of people with alternative needs. Now I will move on to the vegetables on offer, most of which were under cooked by anyone's standards and the roast potatoes, well they weren't even roasted, they were deep fried. Granted they were crispy but I would rather forgo the crispiness for an actual roast potato. The starter I was served was actually quite tasty but the desert, which I assume was the same filling for all, was a cheap tasting chocolate tart. The drinks were hit and miss. My first tasted soapy and others remarked the same at various points throughout the night. We couldn't work out if the lines weren't cleaned properly or the glasses. Overall we had a great night but only because we were partying with a fantastic group.
It's okay. Nothing to shout about. To be fair I was expecting worse after seeing the online photos etc. But was rather happy with my stay
Such a lovely place. My room was so quiet, clean and comfortable. The evening meal I had was amazing, so lovely. Plus a great pint too. The staff are so friendly and ready to help. They made me an Irish coffee which was delicious on my request even though I don't think it was on menu. If you are out for business, pleasure or with that special person the Walnut Tree is a must!!! I will be going again
Very friendly, great cooked breakfast. Housekeeping very good, spotless. Nice bar drinks good value for a hotel. Christmas Day and New Years Eve menu look good.
Great hotel. Warm welcome. Lovely staff all round. Comfortable room although the shower in the bath was difficult to get in and out of. Had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent, if a tad expensive. Would visit again if we that way.
